| The
Malaysian Palm Oil Council is extremely disappointed
with the Advertising Standards Authority’s
verdict. We do not feel that the advertisements
mislead in any way, and we stand by our claim that
Malaysian palm oil is produced sustainably. |
| |
| Malaysia has numerous
laws in place going back to the 1920s to ensure
that we protect and nurture our natural and human
resources, which we are well aware are finite and
precious. |
| |
| The advertisement is designed to suggest
that oil palm plantations can coexist harmoniously
with rainforests. This is precisely Malaysia’s
policy, because we are well aware of the need for
both. |
| |
| The plantations shown in the advertisements
are real plantations. We reserve the right to hold
them up as examples of the gold standard to which
Malaysian palm oil is moving, a benchmark we are
proud to set for the industry worldwide and that
we want the public to demand. |
