A Gift From Nature

The palm tree originated in Africa and has since found homes throughout the southern hemisphere. Used by the ancient Egyptians, its many uses have been rediscovered over time, serving people all over the planet.

Palm oil needs very little processing prior to use in foods, is economically viable, versatile, healthy and nutritious. Palm oil is unique because it does not require hydrogenation, making it trans-fat free. This and the fact that it is stable against rancidity, makes it an excellent frying oil. It also has a tendency to crystallise, making it creamy and ideal for making cakes and margarines. Its palmitic acid content also helps optimise aeration in fat/sugar mixtures. On top of all this, palm oil is also very nutritious, high in antioxidants and vitamins.

Malaysia Palm Oil has many non-food uses as well. The high vitamin content of palm oil also makes it ideal for cosmetic cream applications.

Another demonstration of its versatility is its ability to be turned into unique soaps, detergents and other oleochemicals because of its fat and oil base combined with its vitamin content.

More recently, a palm-based biodiesel has been developed. This alternative to fossil fuel produces significantly less pollutants while being completely renewable.

The versatility and purity of palm oil, coupled with Malaysia’s sustainable practices and reliable supply has turned Malaysia into the largest supplier of palm oil to the world.
